The multi-faceted Buildings & Grounds Department provides services primarily for other county departments and agencies. The responsibilities include but are not limited to ensuring that all county owned or leased buildings and properties meet state and federal health and safety codes County facilities are provided with janitorial services to ensure a healthy environment for personnel and the public using the most effective and efficient means possible. The department's grounds crew provides personnel for lawn services, snow removal, delivery and moving services. The maintenance department consists of qualified repairmen and crafts personnel. The craftsmen include electricians, plumbers, carpenters and a painter. These employees are responsible for the completion of work requests submitted by all departments through the work order system. Minor construction projects are also completed by the maintenance staff. As the county continues to grow so do the duties of the maintenance staff and craftsmen. This group of employees is providing more support to major construction projects resulting in an overall savings to taxpayer. The Buildings and Grounds department is responsible for overseeing yearly contracts including but not limited to pest control, elevator maintenance and sprinkler systems, HVAC maintenance and energy savings contracts for 30+/- buildings. Also included in the department's responsibilities is planning and implementation of capital improvements involving county facilities and purchases as well as providing administrative/construction management support for major construction and renovation projects for the county, Gloucester County Special Services School District , Gloucester County Vocational-Technical School and the Gloucester County College . Included in these duties is scheduling and attending meetings, review and approval of payment applications by contractors, architects or engineers, monitoring the budget and recommending and processing change orders as required. Facility Management services includes developing and implementing preventive maintenance and cost control programs, negotiating leases, monitoring the budget and the compliance as to specifications, codes and safety. Also included in the department's duties is scheduling the use of county facilities or properties by county and outside agencies assuring that established approval criteria's are met. The Buildings & Grounds Department administrative offices are located at the Shady Lane Complex 254 County House Road Clarksboro NJ 08020 with maintenance shops located in the Court House, Justice Complex, Health Services Building and the Offices of Government Services.
