Welcome to the Main Page for the Gloucester County Office of Consumer Affairs and Weights & Measures.

The office acts to protect the public from unlawful, unfair and deceptive business practices. The division takes action pursuant to state and federal laws against businesses in Gloucester County in accordance with the state's Consumer Fraud Act (N.J.S.A.56:8-1 et seq.) and other consumer protection statutes and regulations. We also intervene in the instance in which the rights of many consumers are at stake. This Home Page is designed to assist you in two ways. First; it instructs you on how to file a complaint with our office if you believe that a business, located in Gloucester County, has violated the Consumer Fraud Act or Title 51 of the Standards for Weights and Measures.  Second: It provides resources that you can use to protect yourself in the future against fraudulent business practices. 

Our Weights and Measures division is in the field everyday inspecting and certifying public scales, fuel delivery vehicles, octane measure and timers of all types.  The Weights and Measures office is also responsible to see that all service stations in Gloucester County are inspected yearly and meters sealed and that service station owners abide by state and federal regulations and statutes.
