The Department of Educational and Disability Services was formed in 2008 and designed to unite several county divisions that would provide aone-stop office to better serve the needs of ourresidents with disabilities.Office of Disability Services, Special Child Health, Therapeutic Recreation and Office of Mental Health offer services, information and referrals for our county residents from birth through adult life. The Department of Educational and Disability Services of Gloucester County provides a wide range of services focused directly on the needs of individuals with disabilities. The department offers programs, services, referrals, advocacy, resources and collaborative linkage to other service agencies in the greater community.
The goal of the department is to provide life-long services from birth through adult life with programs that promote maximum independence and participation of all persons with disabilities in community life.

Information, referrals and services in the following areas are offered:
Special Child Health, Therapeutic Recreation, Mental Health Services, Blind/Visually Impaired and Auditory Impaired, Personal Assistance Service Program (PASP), Transportation Referral Assistance, Finance and Housing Referrals, Disability Information Clearinghouse, Legal Advocacy and Referral, , ADA Compliance Procedures, and linkage to other agencies.
- Educational Opportunities in Gloucester County
In addition to the excellent local school districts, Gloucester County offers outstanding opportunities through the county educational system. Gloucester County offers options for students classified with special needs, focused on a career-technical education, and post-secondary community college education.
For young adults between 16 and 24 who are not currently in high school, we offer the Adult Center for Transition, or ACT Program.
