FREEHOLDER
Helene M. Reed is presently serving her third term on the Board of Chosen Freeholders for Gloucester County .
Helene attended Rutgers University and was a certified Hospital Access Manager. Mrs. Reed was Director of Admissions at Kennedy Hospital, Washington Township Division. Early in her career she worked for Kaiser Broadcasting, Methodist Hospital in Philadelphia and for a Philadelphia law firm.
Helene is the mother of three children and lives in Monroe Township. She has served on the Monroe Township Council from 1991-1998. For several of those years Helene served as Monroe Township 's Council President. Helene also served her community as chairperson of the Monroe Township Welfare Board, member of the Monroe Township Planning Board, the Township Zoning Board, Monroe Township Administrative Committee and as commissioner to the Tri-County Joint Insurance Fund (JIF).
This year Freeholder Reed will oversee and be liaison for the Department of Health & Public Safety which consists of the Department of Health & Senior Services, Medical Examiner, Emergency management, Emergency Management Council, Emergency Medical Services Council, Emergency Response, Fire Marshal, Adjuster's Office, Commission on Women, Mental Health Board and the Autonomous Board Oversight Committee. Helene is also Past-President of the New Jersey Association of Counties and is serving on their executive board.(http://www.njac.org/) Helene is a member of the Health Steering Committee of the National Association of Counties (http://www.naco.org/). She has recently been appointed to the Rowan University Board of Trustees (http://www.rowan.edu/).
