Re.: Plea in attempted disarming of officer
Raymond D. Harvey (DOB 8/10/89), of Sewell NJ, pleaded guilty Thursday (11/30) to attempted disarming of a Deptford Township police officer during a struggle outside the defendant’s ex-girlfriend’s home on 2/6/17.
Under terms of his plea to the second-degree offense (2C:12-11A), Assistant Gloucester County Prosecutor Joseph Brook will recommend that Harvey be sentenced to five years in New Jersey state prison. Under the NJ No Early Release Act, he must serve 85 percent of the sentence before becoming eligible for parole.
Superior Court Judge M. Christine Allen-Jackson scheduled sentencing for 2/4/18. Harvey has been in jail since his arrest the day of the incident.
Police had been dispatched to an Oak Ave. residence for a report of an unwanted person and encountered defendant Harvey, who fled and then violently resisted arrest, according to a complaint against Harvey.
