Re.: Parents of murder defendant charged
David A. Wilson (DOB 5/31/65) and Kim Ward (DOB 9/23/67), of Paulsboro NJ, parents of the man charged with the beating death 26-year-old Shawneeq M. Carter in a Woodbury NJ home, have each been charged by the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office with hindering apprehension of their son by cleaning and concealing sneakers that were evidence in the homicide investigation.
Wilson and Ward Came to the GCPO offices Friday (12/1), were served with the third-degree complaints and released after processing. Their son, Brandon D. Wilson (DOB 8/21/98), of Paulsboro, was charged 11/17 with the murder of Ms. Carter, of Camden NJ in a Hopkins St. residence where she had been house-sitting for a friend. Her body was found by police on 9/23/17.
According to an affidavit of probable cause for David Wilson and Ward, Brandon Wilson telephoned his parents from the jail on 10/27 and “requested that they throw out two pair of sneakers” in his room in their house. Investigators executed a search warrant at the couple’s house the same day and found the sneakers in an attic. They “appeared to have been cleaned with some type of solution,” the probable cause statement recounts.
Assisting in the hindering case was the Woodbury Police Department.
