Re.: GCPO’s Caraker to chair county child abuse committee
Eileen Caraker, coordinator of the Forensic Nurse Examiner Program (FNE) in the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office, has accepted the position of chairperson of the Committee on Missing and Abused (COMA) and membership in the Gloucester County Human Services Advisory Council.
COMA, a committee of the Human Services Advisory Council, addresses the problems of child abuse and missing children in Gloucester County.
In addition to coordinating a team of nurses who conduct hospital examinations of sexual assault victims, Caraker is coordinator of Gloucester County’s Sexual Assault Response Team (SART), consisting of FNE nurses, trained rape care advocates who offer support and advice, and local police. The SART/ FNE programs (FNE previously known as SANE-Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner) have been federally funded since 2001.
Caraker has been a nurse for 29 years with BS and MSN degrees in her field. She previously worked at Underwood-Memorial Hospital (now Inspira Health) in Woodbury in emergency care and later as a nurse-educator.
