Re.: Sexual assault plea
Camerino Perez ( DOB 5/30/78), of Clayton NJ pleaded guilty today (2/20) to first degree sexual assault of a helpless or incapacitated victim in Clayton in February 2016.
Perez entered the plea following negotiations with Assistant Gloucester County Prosecutor Alec Gutierrez, who will recommend that Perez be sentenced to 10 years in New Jersey state prison, and once released, be subject to the reporting requirements and restrictions of Megan’s Law for sex offenders and be under parole supervision for at least 15 years.
Under New Jersey’s No Early Release Act, Perez must serve 85 percent of his prison sentence before becoming eligible for parole.
Superior Court Judge Robert P. Becker accepted the guilty plea and deferred scheduling a sentencing until Perez is evaluated at the state Adult Diagnostic and Treatment Center, a facility for sex offenders in Avenel NJ. If Perez is found to be a repetitive and compulsive offender, he may serve his sentence in the Avenel center and undergo treatment there.
