Re: Child Exploitation Arrest

Francis Tranchitella III (DOB 06/13/1979) of Gloucester Township, NJ, was arrested on September 5, 2019, and charged with one count of attempting to send obscene material to a child under the age of 18 (3rd degree), Gloucester County Prosecutor Charles Fiore announced.

On Thursday, August 22, 2019, a detective from the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office (GCPO) High-Tech Crimes Unit had online communications with Tranchitella utilizing a dating application.  It is alleged Tranchitella believed that he was communicating with a 15-year-old child.  The communications consisted of Tranchitella forwarding nude images of himself to the minor as well as suggesting that they meet to participate in sexual activities.

Detectives from the GCPO High-Tech Crimes Unit worked this investigation in close partnership with   federal Homeland Security Investigations (“HSI”) personnel and the Gloucester Township Police Department, which all participate in the New Jersey Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.

On Thursday, September 5, 2019, detectives from the GCPO, HSI and Gloucester Township Police Department executed an arrest warrant at Tranchitella’s place of employment, the Gloucester Township Public Works Department.

Francis Tranchitella III was transported to the Gloucester Township Police Department, processed and then lodged in the Salem County Jail on the strength of a complaint-warrant, pending a detention hearing.

Despite these charges, every defendant is presumed innocent, unless and until found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, following a trial at which the defendant has all of their rights as guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution and State Law.
