Cumberland/Gloucester/Salem Vicinage to Host

Diversity and Scholastic Outreach Initiative

The Cumberland/Gloucester/Salem Vicinage will host a program on diversifying the legal profession featuring Phoebe Haddon, chancellor of Rutgers University-Camden, on Wednesday, March 18 from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. in the Historic Old Courthouse, Market Street and Broadway, Salem.

The program is part of the vicinage’s Diversity and Scholastic Outreach Initiative, which seeks to build relationships with community organizations and schools.

Haddon is the first woman and the first African American chancellor at Rutgers University-Camden and oversees the university’s 6,500 students, 1,100 staff, 39 undergraduate programs and 28 graduate programs.

The program, Pipeline to Success, will focus on the need to diversify the legal and other professions through building pipelines of diverse college graduates. In addition to her compelling personal story and professional achievements, Haddon will discuss Rutgers’ efforts to reach and enroll non-traditional students and the Bridging the Gap program, through which qualifying students can attend Rutgers for free.

An admissions counselor and financial aid counselor from Rutgers will answer individual questions.

The program is free and open to the public.

For more information, contact vicinage EEO/AA Officer Elena R. Flynn at 856-878-5050, ext. 45015.
