Child Advocacy Center
The Child Advocacy Center (CAC) of Gloucester County is a community based facility that offers a safe, child focused environment for victims of child abuse throughout Gloucester County. When police or child protective services believe a child is being abused in Gloucester County, the child is brought to the CAC of Gloucester County by a caregiver or other “safe” adult. At the CAC, the child tells their story once to a trained forensic interviewer who knows the right questions to ask in a way that does not retraumatize the child. Then, a team that includes medical and mental health professionals, law enforcement, prosecutors, child protective services, and victim advocates make decisions together about how to help the child based on the interview. The CAC of Gloucester County offers therapy, courtroom preparation, victim advocacy, case management, and other services. This is called the multidisciplinary team (MDT) response and is a core part of the work of the CAC of Gloucester County. The CAC of Gloucester County is located at 47 Cooper Street, Woodbury, New Jersey.
