Career Center to Hold Hours at Deptford Mall

(Deptford, NJ) – Gloucester County Freeholder Director Robert M. Damminger and Freeholder Heather Simmons announced that beginning on Tuesday, February 12, the Gloucester County Thorofare One Stop Career Center will have a representative at the Gloucester County Store, located upstairs outside of Boscov’s at the Deptford Mall.  The representative will be at the Store every Tuesday from 1:30 p.m. – 4:30 pm provide information to residents of the County about the services offered at the One Stop. 

Freeholder Director Damminger explained, “The One-Stop Career Center is staffed with qualified professionals who can assist residents with obtaining employment or training to meet the demands of the present workforce. Employment counselors can help explore career choices relating to interests and abilities and can help individuals explore occupations that best utilize their skills in the current job market.”


Damminger said that the One-Stop Career Center also offer educational training programs in vocational and trade schools or on-site at the One-Stop, on-the-job training with local employers and apprenticeships in many fields. In addition, Job Search Readiness Workshopsprovide information on how to successfully look for a job, conduct oneself in an interview, write a resume or learn about the local labor market.


“The One-Stop is an important resource for those who are unemployed or underemployed and we wanted to make their services more accessible by offering hours in the Gloucester County Store.  The One Stop brings services of many different agencies together and anytime we can makeservices more convenient and helpful we increase the chances of our residents to gain quality employment,” said Freeholder Heather Simmons, liaison to the County’s Department of Economic Development, which includes the Workforce Development Board.


Freeholder Simmons said, “Anyone may access One Stop services.  The services are targeted toward residents who are developing career goals or who are unemployed, underemployed, those receiving public assistance, people with disabilities, and veterans.  One Stop also connects businesses seekingemployees to qualified candidates.”
