MEDIA ADVISORY/PHOTO OPPORTUNITY 15th Annual Consumer Bowl Tests Students' Knowledge









The Gloucester County Office of Consumer Protection and the State Office of Consumer Affairs will host the 15th Annual Consumer Bowl to test students' knowledge of Consumer Information and Rights in the Marketplace.

The participating schools in this year's competition are:

* Gateway Regional High School
* Glassboro High School
* Gloucester County Institute of Technology
* West Deptford High School
* Woodbury High School

Each school team answers questions in a game show format that tests students' on their knowledge of the Consumer Fraud Act and Weights and Measures statutes that they have been studying in the classroom. The event will be judged by staff from the State and County Office of Consumer Affairs. There are five students, one alternate, and one faculty member to each team.

Students from the winning school will receive a certificate and plaque from the State Office of Consumer Affairs and move onto the Regional Finals in March. Each member of the winning team will receive a $25.00 gift card. The winning team will attend a Freeholder meeting at a later date to receive special recognition and a proclamation. In 2010 the GCIT Team went to the State Championships.
