Adoption Awareness at Animal Shelter

June is Adopt-A-Cat Month & Cats are ‘BOGO’

(Clayton, NJ) – Gloucester County is promoting animal adoption and celebrating June as National Adopt-A-Cat Month by offering ‘Buy One Get One’ cats for adoption throughout the month.
The Gloucester County Animal Shelter is also participating in the national ‘Just One Day’ campaign where they have pledged not to euthanize any animals on June 11, 2013 in an effort to promote adoption.
Gloucester County employees will also participate in Bring Your Dog to Work Day on June 21 to highlight the importance of animal adoption.
Freeholder Director Robert Damminger said, “In 2012 Gloucester County Animal Shelter adopted 387 dogs and 466 cats to goodhomes and we want to bring awareness to our residents that when they adopt a pet from our shelter they are saving a life.” 
Freeholder Adam Taliaferro said that there are so many cats coming into the Animal Shelter each week that in June the Shelterwill be adopting two cats for the price of one.
“Families who adopt a cat or kitten in June can do something wonderful and get a great bargain.  All of the animals at the Gloucester County Shelter are spayed or neutered before adoption and have all of their shots,” Freeholder Taliaferro said.
Taliaferro said, “If people have their pets spayed or neutered there would be less stray and abandoned animals coming in the shelter each year.  All animals adopted out of the shelter are spayed or neutered and we have discounts forsenior citizens and veterans.”
Adoption costs for dogs at the Gloucester County Animal Shelter is $125, cats are $95 and in June it is two cats for $95.  There is a discounted free for senior citizens and veterans of $35.
