Freeholder Sworn-In as New Jersey Association of Counties Officer
(Trenton, NJ) – On Jan. 28, 2014 Gloucester County Freeholder Heather Simmons was sworn-in as the Secretary/Treasurer to the New Jersey Association of Counties (NJAC).
Lieutenant Governor Kim Guadagno administered the oath of office all NJAC’s 2014 executive officers in the Senate Chambers of the State House.
NJAC advocates for legislation, regulations, and policy directives that empower county governments to operate more effectively and efficiently. NJAC is committed to advancing innovative programs and initiatives that enhance the level of service provided and save valuable taxpayer dollars.
Freeholder Director Robert Damminger said, “It is a benefit to have one of our freeholders serving in an executive capacity in this Association. Freeholder Simmons will work with county leaders from around the state to learn from the other county governments and promote what we do here in Gloucester County, particularly in the area of shared services.”
Freeholder Simmons said she looks forward to fostering many relationships with freeholders and leaders in the other 20 New Jersey counties. “This role will enable us to have cooperation and support when working to solve problems and fight for our taxpayers,” Simmons said. Freeholder Simmons serves as Gloucester County Liaison to the Departments of Economic Development and Public Works.
