Gloucester County gets Covered by Comcast Cable Channel 97

(Woodbury, NJ) – Freeholder Director Robert Damminger and Freeholder Lyman Barnes announced today that beginning Thursday, Feb. 27 Comcast (Xfinity) will change its local coverage channel from 5 to 97 and the coverage will include all of Gloucester County’s 24 municipalities.
Damminger said, “For the first time all of Gloucester County Comcast subscribers can enjoy the Gloucester County Education Network programming on one channel.  This is a great addition for the viewers who could not see local sports, events and educational programming on the local access channel and thanks to Comcast for expanding GCIT’s coverage.”
Freeholder Lyman Barnes said that in 2009, GCIT channel 13 and Comcast’s local channel 5 merged and GCIT took over operations of the local and educational programming.  Students and interns work on the daily operations of GCEN.
“GCIT has done a great job in providing the local programming that county residents are looking for and everyone is excited that it will be available to all of the towns regardless of which zone they fall under,” Barnes said.  Barnes is the Freeholder liaison to Education.  “Community broadcasting helps keep many of our families and neighbors connected in this busy day and age.”
GCIT is currently seeking sponsors for sporting events and other educational programming.  To become a private or corporate sponsor, contact John Mondelli at GCIT (856) 468-1445 ext.2115.
Verizon customers can still view GCEN on channel 34.
