18th Century Field Day at Red Bank Battlefield Park this Sunday

(National Park, NJ) – This Sunday, Oct. 19 Gloucester County will be celebrating 18th Century Field Day at Red Bank Battlefield Park from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with battle reenactments, children’s activities, Whitall House tours, gunsmithing and many other free and educational activities.

Freeholder Liaison Frank J. DiMarco said, “This is the county’s largest event of the year at Red Bank Battlefield.  Every year this event provides a living history lesson for our residents and visitors and this year, many new events have been added throughout the day.”

Freeholder Lyman Barnes said that 18th Century Field Day begins with a 10 mile foot race from Haddonfield to Red Bank Battlefield that closely follows the route Jonas Cattell took in 1777 to warn the American patriots the Hessians were coming to attack Fort Mercer.

Barnes said, “Red Bank Battlefield is a true jewel in Gloucester County.  The history, beauty of the area and the volunteers who make the park come to life will make your experience remarkable.  The Whitall House has been the recipient of several major grants and I would encourage anyone who loves history and the outdoors spend the day at 18th Century Field Day.”

All events and parking are free of charge.
