Rescued Cats ready for adoptions, buy one get one free, cats will be available for adoption all through the Holiday
(Clayton, NJ) -- Gloucester County Freeholder Director Robert M. Damminger and Freeholder Dan Christy, Liaison to the Animal Shelter said that all of the 43 cats that were rescued from a home in Pitman yesterday were healthy and are ready for adoption.
Damminger said, "Due to this situation that took place yesterday, the deadline to adopt a cat before the Christmas Holiday has been extended to Wednesday, December 23. The additional 43 cats that were taken in yesterday are healthy and we are focusing on finding them new homes." Damminger said that the Buy One –Get One free cat adoption is still in place.
An additional 25 cats from the Pitman residence where the hoarding took place are being brought to the Pitman Animal Hospital today. After the medical review, healthy cats will also be offered for adoption. Gloucester County Animal Control and Gloucester County Emergency Response assisted in removing the cats from the residence on Sixth Avenue in Pitman yesterday.
Freeholder Dan Christy said, “There have been many improvements taking place at the Animal Shelter over the past eight weeks, and the addition of the new Spay/Neuter Clinic will help reduce the number of unwanted pets going forward. But what we need to focus on immediately is finding homes for these cats that were found in the home in Pitman.”
The cost to adopt a cat is $95 and includes Spay/Neuter, Feline Leukemia/AIDS combination test, all age appropriate vaccinations, worming, disposable cat carrier, an identification tag and collar, and a micro-chip from Gloucester County Animal Shelter.
