Trout Season Opens on Saturday, April 9
(Gibbstown)—With Trout Season just around the corner, Gloucester County Freeholder Director Robert M. Damminger and Freeholder Frank J. DiMarco remind residents that the New Jersey Department of Fish and Game will stock Greenwich Lake Park with trout at least twice a season.
Director Damminger said, “Everyone is looking forward to spring and Greenwich Lake is a popular fishing spot when the weather warms up. It is the perfect location where residents can go to fish without having to travel.”
Freeholder Frank J. DiMarco, liaison to the Department of Parks, stated, “There is wide variety of plant and animal life that abound in the wetlands" that surround the 40-acre spring-fed lake. Greenwich Lake is accessible for boating too.”
Trout Season opens on Sat. April 9 at 8 a.m. Anyone 16 years of age and older who desires to fish must have a New Jersey State fishing license. The licenses are available online at http://www.njfishandwildlife.com/als/websalesintro.htm or by visiting a licensing agency. A list of agencies can also be found online.
The boat launch is open every day from the start of trout season until October. The park is open from April to November, sunrise to sunset.
