County roadways paving update

(Clayton, NJ) -- Gloucester County Freeholder Director Robert M. Damminger and Freeholder Heather Simmons, Liaison to Public Works, said today that the Spring highway overlay program the county began at the end of March and should be finished by the weekend.   


Simmons said that the five sections of county roadway that are being improved this spring are as follows (with their schedule for completion by weeks end):


Completed:  Milling and paving County Route 656 – Parkville Station Road from bridge west of the RR Crossing to the NJ Turnpike overpass ** Photo attached.


Completed: County Route 633 – Blue Bell Road from Corkery Lane CR 612 to Virginia Avenue in Monroe


Completed: Mantua Paulsboro Road County Route 678 from Kings Highway County Route 551 to just west of Weathervane Drive in East Greenwich. 


Completed: Improvements to County Route 659 – Malaga Road from Rt. 322 to Blue Bell Road CR 633 in Monroe are complete. 


Tonight: Thurs, April 14 and Friday, April 15 work will commence on County Route 653 – Paulsboro- Swedesboro Road from Rt. 44 to the Nehonsey Creek Bridge in Greenwich Township. 


South State Inc. is the contractor performing the work.  The County Public Works Department will notify townships, schools and local police prior to the work starting and coordinate traffic control. 


This work is being complete with County funds and is estimated at approximately $906,000.
