Honoring those who sacrificed for our freedom
(Monroe Twp., NJ) – The Gloucester County Board of Chosen Freeholders held the County’s Annual Memorial Day Ceremony yesterday, Sunday, May 29, 2016 at the Gloucester County Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Hundreds of veterans, family members of those interred at the cemetery and members of the public joined to pay their respects to those laid to rest.
Freeholder Director Robert M. Damminger said, “Memorial Day is a day that we pay tribute to those who gave the ultimate sacrifice while serving our nation.
We remember and honor the lives of the 3,065 Gloucester County Veterans, spouses or dependent children who have been laid to eternal rest at the Gloucester County Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
This is a sacred place, and when an American is killed in the line of duty for protecting our democracy it must not be a life that is forgotten, but one we remember and honor.”
