Tickets on Sale June 27 for Senior Citizen Picnic -This year's theme is a "Western Hoe Down"
(Woodbury, NJ) - The Gloucester County Board of Chosen Freeholders announced that this year’s Annual Senior Citizen Picnic will feature the theme “WESTERN HOE DOWN”. The picnic will be held on September 7, 2016 (rain date September 8), from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Red Bank Battlefield Park in National Park, New Jersey.
Freeholder Director Robert M. Damminger said that the Senior Picnic is the most enjoyable event the Division of Senior Services hosts. “Gloucester County seniors are fun and energetic and I know this year, they will be coming with their dancing boots on,” said Damminger.
“The Division of Senior Services helps thousands of seniors throughout the year and the annual picnic provides for a day of fun and social interaction with new and old friends as well as provides for an opportunity for our seniors to learn about the services and programs that are available to them,” Damminger stated.
Freeholder Jim Jefferson, Liaison to the Division of Senior Services said, “Gloucester County is home to over 51,470 residents aged 60 and older and the Senior Picnic is an annual tradition they all can participate in and enjoy.”
Seniors attending the picnic will enjoy lunch, music, entertainment and be able to participate in dance contests throughout the day. “Over 1,800 seniors attend this event each year and it brings me great joy when I see all those seniors smiling and having a good time.” Jefferson stated.
The picnic is open to residents 60 years and older. Tickets are $2.00 each and are available at the Division of Senior Services at 115 Budd Blvd, West Deptford and the County’s six Nutrition sites beginning on June 27. The ticket price helps defray the cost of the event which is funded with the Title III Older Americans Act Area Plan Grant.
