Prescription Discount Cards available to all residents – and discount good for pets meds too

(Woodbury, NJ) – Gloucester County Freeholder Director Robert M. Damminger and Freeholder Jim Jefferson announced today that a new prescription drug discount card is available to all county residents regardless of age, income, or existing health coverage.

Freeholder Director Damminger said, "We are pleased to partner with ProAct to provide this innovative program and we encourage our residents to participate.  This program can help residents save money on their prescription medication any time their prescriptions are not covered by insurance."

Freeholder Jim Jefferson, liaison to the Department of Health and Human Services said, “ProAct is a unique discount card that not only covers brand or generic prescription medications but it also covers pet medications that can be filled at a regular pharmacy.”

Jefferson added, “We work hard to find ways to help our residents keep more of their hard earned money in their pockets, and this program is way to do that.”

Participants can expect to save 52% on average.  Discounts will vary depending on the drug and quantity purchased. The prescription discount card can be used at any participating pharmacy in Gloucester County and at over 55,000 pharmacies nationwide. The cards cannot be used in conjunction with any other type of insurance, to reduce co-pays or with other discount programs.

There are no enrollment forms, no membership fees and no restrictions or limits on frequency of use. Participants simply show the card to their pharmacist when they are dropping off a prescription to be filled and they will automatically receive savings.

A variety of additional discounts such as vision, hearing, and LASIK services as well as many others are also available through the program.

For more information on these services, including a list of participating pharmacies, residents can contact ProAct at 1-855-702-7283 or visit
