Roadwork expected in Mantua and Harrison next week
Milling and overlay set for Main Street in Mantua on June 19 and Cohawkin Road on June 20
(Mantua Twp., NJ) -- Gloucester County Freeholder Director Robert M. Damminger and Freeholder Heather Simmons said that on Monday, June 19, Main Street in Mantua will be milled and overlayed from Tylers Mill Road (CR552A from the Bridge) to Center Street.
This work should be completed in one day and there will be one-way detours. South Jersey Gas is sharing the cost with the county for this project since their recent gas line project necessitated some of the paving work.
Weather permitting, on Tuesday June 20,2017, the county is scheduled to mill and overlay Cohawkin Road, (CR 667) from Cedar Road to State Highway Route 45 in Mantua and Harrison Townships. This work should be completed in one day and one-way detours will be in place.
Freeholder Director Damminger said, "Each year the county plans to mill and pave approximately 15 miles of our roadway. This consistent attention to our roads keeps them in good shape so that we rarely face an emergency situation that can drain resources or cause a danger."
Freeholder Heather Simmons said, "We plan road construction projects six years in advance, so we are constantly working on portions of the 410 miles of roadway that the county maintains. We take pride in making sure that the county public roadway system is safe and secure for residents and motorists."
The Contractor is South State Inc. for both projects and for the Main Street project approximately $139,000, and approximately $180,990 for the Cohawkin Road work.
