Adoption fees waived during Clear the Shelters Day on August 19

(Clayton, NJ) –The Gloucester County Animal Shelter is once again joining animal shelters across the country to host a 'Clear the Shelters Day' pet adoption event Saturday, Aug. 19.  The shelter is waiving all adoption fees for anyone who adopts a pet on this day.

Freeholder Director Robert M. Damminger said, "This is Gloucester County’s third year participating in the nationwide initiative to help connect animals in need of permanent homes with loving families.  We encourage those residents who are considering adopting a pet to take advantage of this free adoption opportunity."

Freeholder Dan Christy, liaison to the Animal Shelter said, “There are so many pets in need of a forever home.  Being a part of ‘Clear the Shelters Day’ helps us place more animals with families willing to care for them at no cost.”

Seven dogs and six cats were adopted from the Gloucester County Animal Shelter during last year’s ‘Clear the Shelters Day’ event, added Christy.

Residents considering adopting their forever friend should visit the Gloucester County Animal Shelter before the event to see all the animals available for adoption.  Adoption applications must be submitted by Wed., Aug. 16 and will be pre-approved by Fri.
