Local business owner builds new facility to meet growing market

(Mantua, NJ) – Freeholder Jim Jefferson, Michael and Victoria Layton and their baby Dean, and Freeholder Heather Simmons at the grand opening of Car Effex in Mantua Township on Sat, Oct. 21, 2017.

In 2002 Michel Layton's Car Effex began as a web-based business that sold body kits to clients. The requests for installation of the body kits from clients became in demand, so his first service began and there was no looking back. At 23 years old, Mike went from renter to owner, and purchased a 4,500 square foot shop to service the growing list of needs of his clients. The list of services has grown exponentially, and continues to grow since the beginning of Car Effex, including most after- market car modifications.

After 15 successful years, Car Effex had outgrown its more recent facilities in Mantua. This summer, Mike Layton built his dream shop boasting over 11,800 square feet with 7 bays, multiple lifts and an impressive showroom to service the needs of clients ranging from the ever-day person wanting to customize his or her vehicle to professional athletes looking to set their car apart from the rest.
