NJAC Opioid Summit held in Trenton

(Trenton, NJ) - On Friday, December 8, 2017 Gloucester County Freeholder Heather Simmons, attended her last conference as President of the NJ Association of Counties (NJAC).

Freeholder Simmons met with leaders from across the State at the Trenton Country Club for a summit to discuss the government’s role in battling the opioid epidemic affecting communities across the state.

Former Super Bowl Champion, Denver Bronco, Trenton native, and recovery advocate Vance Johnson was the keynote speaker for the event. Law enforcement, medical professionals, parent advocates, addiction and recovery professionals, mental health providers, and other subject matter experts all attended the event to offer strategies and solutions on how to end the epidemic.

Freeholder Simmons said, “The opioid epidemic has been affecting our community for too long. It is time for us to take more forceful measures in assuring the safety and health of all residents and eliminating this threat.”
