Local Dance Studio honored with Best of Gloucester County Award

(Deptford, NJ) On Thursday, June 7, Freeholder Jim Jefferson had the honor of presenting Jamie Down, owner of Jamie's Dance Odyssey with the Best of Gloucester County award for Best Dance Studio.

Jamie Down was unable to attend the recognition ceremony on Monday, June 4, but Freeholder Jefferson, liaison to the Department of Health and Human Services, whose daughter attends classes at the studio, was happy to present them with their award.

Jamie's Dance Odyssey, located in Deptford, is a 7,400 square foot dance school with six professional dance studios, each specializing in a specific type of dance. They offer classes in the fall and dance camps over the summer, including an intensive class where dancers can experience a variety of dancing styles from outside teachers including "So You Think You Can Dance" contestants.

The studio currently teaches over 400 kids the art of dance and those numbers are continually growing. The studio also has a nationally recognized and national champion winning competition team with over 70 members that compete in tap, hip-hop, jazz, and contemporary.
