Gloucester County Veterans honored with federal medals

(Sewell, NJ) On Wednesday, April 10 the Gloucester County Board of Chosen Freeholders honored 31 veterans, six of them posthumously, by presenting them with the federal medals they had earned during their time in service but had not received yet. 

Freeholder Director Robert M. Damminger said, "The men and women who answer the call to serve and defend our nation deserve the utmost respect and recognition. We are privileged to have presented these veterans with their federal medals." 

Freeholder Dan Christy, liaison to the office of Veterans Affairs said, "The Gloucester County Office of Veterans Affairs has worked with the veterans themselves, or their families, and each branch of service to find the medals, ribbons and honors they have earned.  It's quite detailed work, but worth every moment.  It is important that our veterans know that we are behind them and we are here to provide support they need on the home front."
