Gloucester County Animal Shelter will Hold Adoption Event and an Open House to promote National Adopt a Shelter Dog Month

(Woodbury, NJ) - The Gloucester County Board of Chosen Freeholders announced that the Gloucester County Animal Shelter will be participating in an adoption event at PetSmart on Clements Bridge Road in Deptford on Saturday October 15th and Sunday October 16th and again on Saturday October 22nd and Sunder October 23rd, all from 11 am to 4 pm. The county's adoption event at PetSmart is being held in conjunction with National Adopt a Shelter Dog Month.

"Gloucester County has a very generous corporate partnership with PetSmart in Deptford. They allow our Animal Shelter to operate our off-site adoption center in their store throughout the year and it helps make it easier for many families to adopt a pet," said Freeholder Director Sweeney. "I want to encourage anyone thinking about adopting a pet to visit the PetSmart during our adoption event over the next two weekends and seriously consider adding a new member to your family," Sweeney said.

Anyone who adopts a pet during this adoption event will receive a special New Pet & Parent Guide, with more than $35 in PetSmart coupons.

Freeholder Frank DiMarco, liaison, said that there will be a Halloween-themed Open House at the Gloucester County Animal Shelter on Saturday, October 29 from 11 am until 4 pm. Many exciting events are planned for the day including a Pet Costume Parade at 3 pm. There will be refreshments, games, face painting and balloons.

"The Gloucester County Animal Shelter does so much for our communities and animals. They take in the strays, find homes for them, and make sure that animals receive humane care and treatment," said Freeholder Frank DiMarco. "The Halloween Open House is really a lot of fun for the staff, the visitors and the pets."
