County to Hold 9th Annual Water Fest on June 4th Kick-Off to Summer Fun
(CLAYTON) - Gloucester County Freeholder Director Stephen M. Sweeney and Freeholder Frank J. DiMarco announced today that the 9th Annual Gloucester County Water Fest will be held on Sunday, June 4, at Scotland Run Park from 11 AM to 4 PM.
Freeholder Director Sweeney said that "Summertime gets officially underway in Gloucester County with the Water Fest. For the past nine years we have kicked-off our summer programming with Water Fest and 2006 is going to be a great season in our parks."
"Water Fest is a great fun and educational event that teaches residents of all ages about nature and the environment," said Freeholder Director Sweeney. "We have live wildlife shows this year that feature hawks, eagles, falcons and one that showcases live alligators, snakes, turtles."
"Gloucester County is dedicated to providing quality family events like Water Fest, where there is something for everyone to enjoy," Sweeney said. "There will be canoeing, kayaking, exhibits, face painting, crafts, food and music during the Water Fest, and later that evening in Atkinson Park our Sunday Summer Concert Series begins," the Director said.
Freeholder Frank DiMarco, liaison to the Parks Department said that there are many opportunities for residents to enjoy the county parks this summer.
"Our county Parks Department produces educational and recreational programs all through the summer months for residents of all ages to enjoy. We have free concerts, athletic programs, fun educational events for youth, golf tournaments at our Pitman Golf Course, tennis tournaments, our Heritage Days at the historic Whitall House at Red Bank Battlefield Park and more," stated DiMarco.
"We have expanded our programming this year to include our Movies in the Parks, new kayaks and canoes available for rent on the weekend at Scotland Run Park and a new Weeknight Rock at the Park program," DiMarco said. "The programs are in the county's newsletter which will be mailed to households beginning June 1st. They can also be viewed online at www.co.gloucester.nj.us and clicking on County Newsletter," DiMarco said.

The event is free of charge. The Water Fest will be held rain or shine. Scotland Run Park is located on Academy Street (Co. Route 610) in Clayton.
