Gloucester County To Hold BIG Shredding Event This Saturday, June 17th The event will help people destroy documents with personal information and prevent Identity Theft
(Woodbury, NJ) – The Gloucester County Board of Freeholders announced that the county will hold its first BIG Shredder Event on June 17th from 8 am to 12 noon in the rear parking lot of Gloucester County Institute of Technology. Freeholder Director Stephen M. Sweeney and Freeholder Bill Krebs said that an industrial size shredder truck will be on site to destroy documents at this free event.
“Knowledge of how to protect yourself and acting on that knowledge, like shredding personal documents like bank records and credit card statements, takes the power away from identity predators,” said Sweeney.
This event is opened to Gloucester County residents only and each household will be limited to 175 lbs of household paper or documents for shredding. No businesses will be permitted. Residents can call 384-6855 with questions about the event.
Freeholder Bill Krebs, liaison to Consumer Affairs said that the shredding will be performed by DocuVault, a Gloucester County company located in Thorofare.
“The shredding process will be very secure,” said Freeholder Bill Krebs. “There will be Sheriff Officers present, investigators from Consumer Protection and law enforcement personnel from the County Prosecutor’s Office as well as security staff from DocuVault to ensure your documents are destroyed,” Krebs said.
There will be two options for residents when they arrive for the shredding event. Residents can either deliver their documents right to the shredding truck and witness the shredding, or for faster service, there will be a cordoned off area, with security, where residents can drive-thru and drop off documents and leave them and they will be shredded later that morning.
