GLOUCESTER COUNTY HOSTS WOMEN’S HEALTH SUMMIT Maintain Your Health: Today, Tomorrow & Always!

(Sewell, NJ) – The theme of this year’s Women’s Health Summit is “Maintain Your Health:  Today, Tomorrow and Always”.  This free Summit offers an inspirational keynote speaker, workshops, screenings, other important services and giveaways.  The Summit will be held on Saturday, October 21, 2006, from 8 AM to 2 PM at the Gloucester County Institute of Technology (G.C.I.T.), 1360 Tanyard Road in Sewell.

“The Women’s Health Summit promotes the health and wellbeing of women.  This educational event gives women a lot of tools and up to the minute information on health and social issues they face or may face,” said Freeholder Director Sweeney. “The Summit honors the vital importance of women to our community and encourages women to take care of themselves in the midst of all their responsibilities and activities.”

To launch the Summit, the keynote speaker will be Stephen Goldfine, MD, who will discuss “Women as Caregivers: ‘Sandwiching’ Resources, Support and Self-Care into Your Schedule.”  Many women care for family, children, and parents, and find little or no time to care for themselves.  This part of the program promises to offer suggestions and tools to help women as caregivers.  The first 100 participants into the theater for the opening ceremonies, which is scheduled to start at 9 AM, will receive a special early bird gift.

“The Women’s Health Summit offers a tremendous amount of valuable resources to help women throughout their lives, from young adulthood to the golden years.  The Summit is a fun event packed with useful information and activities geared towards women’s health and wellbeing.  Men are welcome to attend the Summit too and we are confident that those who do will find a lot of helpful, interesting information.  I encourage everyone to stop by and check it out,” said Freeholder Helene Reed, liaison to the Department of Health and Senior Services.

There will be over 20 workshops offered throughout the day, and many services will be available including Child Safety Seat Check; Child Fingerprinting and Identification; Massage Therapy; and Fall Risk Assessment.  Childcare services are available for children over 3 years of age (children must be toilet trained).
