Halloween Will Come Early for Gloucester County Seniors
(Woodbury, NJ) - The Gloucester County Board of Chosen Freeholders announced that this year's Annual Senior Citizen Picnic will feature the theme 'Halloween Party'. The picnic will be held on September 8, 2010 (rain date 9/9/2010), from 11:00AM to 3:00PM at Red Bank Battlefield Park, National Park.
Freeholder Director Stephen M. Sweeney said that of all the events he attends in the County each year, the Senior Picnic is one of his favorites. "Gloucester County has the most vibrant and active seniors. I get energized by going to the Senior Picnic. These residents know how to have a good time," Sweeney said.
"We hold this annual picnic so people can learn about services and programs that are available, and it has become a tradition that our seniors look forward to," Sweeney stated.
Lunch, music and entertainment and dance contests will be presented throughout the day. A prize will be awarded to a senior dressed in the MOST original costume.
"Our staff services thousands of seniors a year and the picnic provides a day that is fun, social and educational," said Freeholder Jean DuBois, liaison to the Division of Senior Services. "We always change the theme to make the day more fun and interesting so Halloween will be coming a little early to Gloucester County this year."
The picnic is open to residents 60 years and older. Tickets are $2.00 each and are available at the Division of Senior Services at 115 Budd Blvd, West Deptford and the Countys six Nutrition sites. The ticket price helps defray the cost of the event, which is funded with the Title III Older Americans Act area grant.
For additional information please contact the Nutrition office 686 - 8327. There will not be regular nutrition sites held the day of the picnic.
