"Healthy Habits, Health Futures" Gloucester County Presents 7th Annual Women's Health Summit

(Woodbury, NJ) - Gloucester County Freeholder Director Stephen M. Sweeney and Freeholder Helene M. Reed announced that the Gloucester County Board of Chosen Freeholders will sponsor the 7th  Annual Women's Health Summit themed 'Healthy Habits, Healthy Futures' on Saturday, October 20th from 8 am to 2 pm.  The Women's Health Summit will be held at the Gloucester County Institute of Technology, 1300 Tanyard Road in Sewell.

The free event provides information focused on broadening health awareness for women of all ages, as well as men.  The Summit offers workshops, exhibitors, children's activities, health screenings, refreshments, a healthy lunch and door prizes.

"The 2007 Women's Health Summit was designed to encourage women to foster healthy habits such as proper diet, exercise, regular screenings and checkups so they have a healthy future for themselves and their families," said Freeholder Director Sweeney.  "Women are often busy taking care of others that they forget their own importance and health needs.  This Health Summit is an excellent opportunity for women to take a day to have fun and learn some new healthy habits," said Sweeney.

Freeholder Helene M. Reed, liaison to the Department of Health and Senior Services, said that Health Summit participants get to choose from many interesting and diverse workshop topics led by local experts that can  help them take control over a variety of health and lifestyle issues.

"Women are often guilty of not taking time for themselves, but the few hours a woman spends at the Summit can provide her with the tools to take simple steps for a longer, healthier, and happier life," said Freeholder Reed.  "It's worth the time."

Transportation will also be provided by the county's Special Transportation Unit  from the County Courthouse Parking lot in Woodbury to the GCIT, every half hour throughout the day until the end of the event.  The first pick-up then will be at 7:30 AM and the last bus will depart from the GCIT at 2 PM, getting back to the courthouse at around 2:30 PM.
