New Video-On-Demand Service Available at Gloucester County Library
(Mullica Hill) - The Gloucester County Library System (GCLS) is happy to announce a new service called MyLibraryDV.
MyLibraryDV is a unique video-on-demand service created by Recorded Books in partnership with the Gloucester County Library. With this service, holders of a GCLS library card can access hundreds of hours of DVD-quality programming to view on their home computer.
Topics include popular "how-to" TV shows like America's Test Kitchen, travel with Rick Steves' Europe, Antiques Roadshow, Today's Homeowner, classic and independent films and more. It is provided to members of the Gloucester County Library without charge.
"This is another terrific service offered by the Gloucester County Library to residents. MyLibraryDV currently offers over 450 videos, and is constantly adding entertaining and educational programming," said Freeholder Director Stephen M. Sweeney. "The technology is so advanced that any number of library customers can access the video at the same time, so there is no waiting for the DVD to become available in the library," Sweeney stated.
"The Library is a great place to be and if you can't get there, you can get video-on-demand at home," said Freeholder Joe Chila. "They have added thousands of new book, audiobook, CD, and DVD titles at all of their branches. They provide many adult and children's programs throughout the year, and offer public access to computers and high speed internet." Chila is the Freeholder Liaison to the Gloucester County Library System.
All you need to receive this free service is a GCLS library card in good standing and high-speed Internet access at home. Users can "check out" up to 10 videos in a seven-day period. They may be viewed on a computer or (if your TV has an input for a computer) on the television screen. Borrowers have seven days to view the videos and then they will be automatically "returned."
Because this service required download of a reader program, MyLibraryDV is available for in-home use only. Programs can not be transferred to another storage device.
